The Executive Environmental Sustainability Forum convened by Waste Management, Inc. and the Tuck School of Business was held October 28-29 on the Dartmouth campus. With the topic of women in politics in the news this election cycle, it is a fitting time for more discussion on women in business, who often face similar hurdles to their political counterparts. The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth will do just that at their annual Women in Business Conference, taking place October 3 and 4 on campus in Hanover, New Hampshire. This year's theme will be "Celebrating 40 years of Women at Tuck." - Tuck students jumpstart MBA experience with preterm programs
Many incoming students to the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth kicked off their MBA experience by taking part in one or more of Tuck's pre-term programs. The programs provide a way for students to bond with classmates and prepare for the academically challenging year ahead. - 200 miles of teamwork for Tuck students
On September 12-13, eight Tuck School of Business students will test their teamwork skills by taking part in the Reach the Beach Relay, the longest distance running relay race in the United States. The event, a 24-hour, 200-mile run across New Hampshire, will begin at Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch and end at Hampton Beach. - Tuck Gives LEAD Students an MBA Experience
Every summer 30 high school students are selected by the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program to spend three weeks at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. This experience gives them an opportunity to develop leadership skills and build a plan for their future success. LEAD is a nationally run initiative to encourage high schools students with diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in business. - Tuck students kick off MBA program with a week of community service
Work boots, long sturdy pants, and hats you "won't mind ruining" are not usually considered appropriate attire for new business school students. Not so for those entering the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. From August 18th through the 21st, there won't be a cufflink or collar-stay in sight as 25 of Tuck's incoming class of 2010 commence their MBA program with a week of community service through TuckBuilds. The student-run program is now in its fourth year, and there is consistently more demand than places available. - Tuck breaks its own world record in Alumni Giving
Tuck surpassed its own alumni giving record this year, both in terms of funds raised and the alumni participation rate in the 2008 Tuck Annual Giving (TAG) campaign.
In 2007-08, 67.5 percent of all Tuck alumni made a financial contribution to the school. This exceeds last year's record by more than a full percentage point. In addition, the total amount of money TAG raised reached $5.9 million, up 18 percent from the previous year. - Tuck Allwin Community Service award honors classmate
The class of 1976 at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth has created the Allwin Community Service Award in honor of their classmate James Allwin, who passed away in 2007. The award recognizes Tuck students or recently graduated alumni who embody Allwin's values of community service, with a preference for students pursuing a career in the nonprofit or public sector. The award is also a reminder of how Allwin, a successful businessman, used his skills, time, and resources to make a difference in the lives of those in need. - Business school deans discuss globalization's impact on education
Deans from business schools in Eastern Europe, Spain, and the United States recently gathered to discuss the differences in international models of business education and the impact of globalization on their industry. The event was the latest in a series of roundtables held around the globe and organized and moderated by Paul Danos, dean of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and Santiago IГ±iguez, dean of Instituto de Empressa Business School. This latest assembly was hosted by Dean Paul Garrison of the Central European University Business School in Budapest. - CIO-in-Residence
Ed Granger-Happ, chief information officer of Save the Children, a high-profile global charity, spent the spring 2008 term at the Tuck School as the Center for Digital Strategies' first CIO-in-residence.
