On Thursday September 3rd, Governor Corzine announced an aggressive initiative aimed at combating any resurgence of H1NI influenza this fall. The highlights of the initiative include: free vaccinations for the uninsured, a public education campaign to encourage preventative measures and a "Find a Flu Shot" website at www.nj.gov/health where consumers can find locations to get vaccinations.

Pregnant women will have greater access to health as a result of two pieces of legislation signed this week by Governor Jon S. Corzine. The first bill, A-2539 /S-1125, requires health care insurance carriers to reimburse obstetrical providers in installment payments for maternity services provided over the term of a woman’s pregnancy, rather than after the birth of the child. Covered payments will now occur on an on-going basis and include office visits, other pre-natal care, as well as the delivery of the baby.

Governor Jon S. Corzine signed legislation on Thursday making New Jersey the 14th state in the nation to require insurance companies to cover treatments for autism and other developmental disabilities.

Governor Jon S. Corzine signed an Executive Order on August 3 requiring the immediate suspension of any pending applications for State approval of development projects in a municipality where the sitting mayor is charged with public corruption. "We will not tolerate any impropriety, or even the appearance of impropriety, regarding the conduct of elected officials in New Jersey," Governor Corzine said.
- Homicides Down Dramatically Statewide
On Tuesday, Governor Jon S. Corzine and Attorney General Anne Milgram hailed a dramatic decline in homicides in New Jersey as they announced the results of the second phase of a statewide initiative launched last summer to target street gangs and violent crime.
There were 158 reported homicides in New Jersey in the first six months of 2009, compared to 209 during the same time period in 2008 – a 24 percent drop. In Camden, a city once plagued with violence crime, the homicide rate is down 46 percent. - Governor Signs Second Economic Stimulus Package
